AMARS exists for operators who enjoy the sound, technique and tradition of amplitude modulation.
The society encourages friendly contacts, practical experimentation, restoration of classic equipment and the continued use of AM on the amateur bands.
On air
The society callsign gives members a shared identity for events, demonstrations and club activity.
Last year we had GX5AMS on the air from the National Hamfest in Newark.
Community
The AMARS Top Band Challenge, getting back on Top Band for a chat. Nothing formal, it's not a contest.
It's just an opportunity, at times when you know there will be others around, to enjoy a relaxed QSO in an old-fashioned way.

Operating
AM has a distinctive presence on the bands. It invites careful adjustment, good audio practice and a slightly more deliberate style of operating. The result is a mode with technical depth and real personality.
This area can later hold recommended frequencies, net times, band plans, operating guidance and links to useful technical notes.
Transmitters, receivers, modulation depth, audio chain, antennas and operating technique all matter on AM.
AM connects today’s amateur operators with the earliest years of voice communication by radio.
The site is growing as AMARS enters its new phase of activity.
